ATIKU SPEAKS ON ZONING, SAYS IT IS NEITHER NIGERIA'S PROBLEM NOR SOLUTION

ATIKU SPEAKS ON ZONING, SAYS IT IS NEITHER NIGERIA'S PROBLEM NOR SOLUTION

By: Bamanga Jada

The PDP 2019 Presidential candidate, His Excellency, Alhaji Dr. Atiku Abubakar, GCON (Waziri Adamawa), has DISMISSED the debate on ZONING of the party's Presidential ticket as the solution to Nigeria's leadership crisis!

Within the context of the calls by some of the party leaders that the 2023 Presidential ticket be zoned to the South, but Atiku's remarks suggest a contrary position.

Speaking at the 94th National Executive Council (NEC) of the main opposition party in Abuja on Thursday, the former Vice President of Nigeria argued that the ZONING of the 2023 Presidential ticket has never been the cause of the Country's problem nor will it be the solution.

Atiku said, "the PDP has the right to determine its rules on how its party should be governed. The people of Nigeria also have the right to determine who governs them.

Waziri Adamawa further said, "where the President comes from has never been the problem of Nigeria neither will it be the solution. There is NO such thing as the President from Southern Nigeria or President from Northern Nigeria. There's only one President from Nigeria, by Nigeria and for Nigeria!".

In respect to the already zoned Chairmanship seat, as well as other national officers seat, the former Vice President said he would like to see a sizable number of Youth and women in the new National Working Committee, the party braces to produce!

The acting National Chairman of the PDP, Yemi Akinwonmi, in his opening remark, urged all members to embrace what ever comes from the meeting for the party's ultimate goal of reclaiming power from the APC.

Those in attendance at the meeting were Governors of Delta State, Bayelsa State, Enugu State, Edo State, Rivers State, Bauchi State Sokoto State, Oyo State, Benue State and Adamawa State. Also in attendance were Senator Bukola Saraki, Senator David Mark, amongst others!

Hon. Awwal Tukur (Wakili Ganye) mourns Late Ali Ganye, commiserate with Ganye Chiefdom:

Hon. Awwal Tukur (Wakili Ganye) has commiserated with the Gangwari Ganye and the entire Ganye chiefdom over the death of Alhaji Ali Ganye.

The late elder statesman died on Friday morning in Yola.

While condoling the family over the sad incident, Tukur described the late elder statesman as a peace-loving man who during his lifetime promote peaceful coexistence among citizens.

He said “Ganye chiefdom and Adamawa state have indeed lost a renown businessman and a politician of great repute who lived an exemplary life that should be emulated by all. Unfortunately, we lost him at a time that his wise counsel is needed more than ever before. This is because some of the challenges bedeviling us as a nation cannot be tackled without the wisdom and counsel of our elders.”

Hon. Awwal Tukur prayed for Allah to comfort the family of the deceased and grant him Aljanna Firdausi.

Late Alhaji Ali Ganye died at the age of 77 after a brief illness and has since been buried according to Islamic rites.

NIGERIA @61: A CALL FOR UNITY AND SELFLESS PATRIOTISM. I want to join fellow Nigerians to celebrate her independence as she clocks 61. The journey of a thousand miles starts with a step.

NIGERIA @61: A CALL FOR UNITY AND SELFLESS PATRIOTISM.

I want to join fellow Nigerians to celebrate her independence as she clocks 61. The journey of a thousand miles starts with a step.

We've come this far together as a nation because of the love and tolerance we have for each other and we must always be our brothers keeper. We must stand together as one. Cultural, religious, ethnic and political diversity should not define our unity and oneness as a nation.

We must all stick together as patriotic citizens to improve the situation of our country in all aspects, selfless dedication and positive contributions to the growth of our immediate society should be our concern.

Though we're going through a lot as a nation now, economic down slide, security threats and bad leadership, with a change of mentality and positive approach we can eliminate our problems and rebirth the country of our dreams.

Humanity must be empowered and encouraged in our country for we've a lot of vulnerable amongst us and this can serve as an avenue or loopholes for our enemies to take advantage of and lure our vulnerable into acts like terrorism, robbery, vandalization of public and private properties and other sorts of socioeconomic crimes, that's why our government must pay close attention to the massive poverty level looming the nation.

Finally, we must build an enabling environment for our coming generation and ourselves, an environment that exposes more positive opportunities, and encourage our youths in attaining greater heights in order to be able to compete against other nations, let's eradicate the thought of selfishness, personal interest, greediness and nepotism, doing away with all of these will pose a rapid growth to us becoming a developed nation and to stand out as a fierce nation in all standards.

Let's all come together and make NIGERIA great again...

God bless the State of Adamawa,

God bless the federal republic of Nigeria.

Happy independence day
