ADAMAWA STATE PCC WELCOMES A NEW FEDERAL COMMISSIONER

In a historic move, the Adamawa State office of the Public Complaints Commission has ushered in a new era of leadership with the appointment of Hajiya Maryam Abdulmalik Dalhattu as the new Federal Commissioner. 

This marks a significant milestone as she becomes the first female Commissioner to head the state office.

During a warm welcome ceremony, Deputy Director of Investigations, Mr. Dan Shewa Maiyaki, expressed his delight at having Hajiya Dalhatu as the new Federal Commissioner. He succinctly highlighted the Commission's achievements and pledged unwavering support from the staff, ensuring a seamless tenure.

Hon. Commissioner, Hajiya Maryam Dalhattu, a seasoned administrator, vowed to drive the Commission's mandate with renewed vigor. Her vision includes restructuring and repositioning the Commission to optimize its functionality, ensuring citizens' grievances are addressed effectively and efficiently.

"This appointment presents an opportunity to revitalize the Commission's purpose and mandate," she emphasized. "I'm committed to fostering fairness, equity and justice for every aggrieved citizen."

With Hon Maryam Dalhattu at the helm of affairs, Adamawa State residents can expect enhanced service delivery where every downtrodden feels heard and valued.

Senator Jonathan Silas Zwingina, Adamawa Elder Statesman passes on

An Adamawa Elder Statesman, Senator Jonathan Silas Zwingina passed yesterday after a protracted sickness in Abuja.

Jonathan, a founding member of the People’s Democratic Party and represented Adamawa Southern Senatorial District (1999-2007) died at the age of seventy.

His death was announced yesterday by a family member according to him burial arrangements will soon be announced

RMC Gives Education Support to 1,000 Adamawa Students in Celebration of First Lady’s Birthday

A non governmental organization, the Ribadu Media Center (RMC) has extended education support to no fewer than 1,000 students across the 21 local governments of Adamawa State in celebration of Nigeria first lady’s 64th birthday anniversary which coincides with Nigeria’s independence anniversary.

Speaking during the occasion, founder of the organization, Barr. Ahmed Nuhu Ribadu said the gesture was his own little way of supporting education in Adamawa State promising to maintain the tempo.

Ribadu explained that he deemed it important to extend the gesture to the teeming students of Adamawa State because of the critical role education plays in the lives of individuals and the country.

He noted that he performed the gesture with nostalgic feelings as providing education to the less privileged was a legacy bequeathed to the family by his grand father, who championed the acquisition of education especially for the less privileged members of the society.

Ribadu urged the youth not to fritter with the opportunity to acquire education because it is the highest enabler of opportunities adding that our present and past leaders assumed their position on the alter of education.

He promised to continue with the legacy of his grandfather so that the society could benefit from his little intervention.

In his address, the APC organizing secretary in Adamawa, Mustapha Atiku Ribadu applauded the vision of the young Ribadu urging him to maintain the tempo.

He also acknowledged the honour extended to the Nigerian first lady Remi Tinubu which aims to eulogize her giant humanitarian gestures just as he thanked president Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the solid reforms he is championing in the country.

Ribadu urged Nigerians to remain resolutely behind the president as his policies will soon translate into the betterment of life for every Nigerian.

Also speaking, various stakeholders including the APC ALGON, Musa Dabuto, Adamawa APC youth leader, Abubakar Babatsoho and other notable APC chieftains and local party chairmen all applauded Ahmed Nuhu Ribadu for the excellent intervention.

They also urged Nigerians to persevere in the face of the inclement economic conditions they are facing adding that the future promises to be brighter and greater.

NEYIF, SCI Engage Tarmuwa Community for Humanitarian, Development, and Peacebuilding Nexus Pilot Project

In a significant step towards addressing the pressing humanitarian needs of the Tarmuwa Local Government Area and key in to Government efforts of Durable Solutions, NEYIF, in collaboration with Save the Children International (SCI), has initiated a pilot project to foster sustainable development and peacebuilding.

As part of this initiative, NEYIF and SCI representatives ably led by the Executive Director Comrade Dauda Muhammad Gombe and Mr. Benjamin Laah, Operations Coordinator of SCI recently met with the Tarmuwa Local Government Chairman, Muhammad Lamido Musa, and the Emir of Jajere, HRH. Alhaji Mai Hamza Buba Ibn Isah Mashio. The purpose of these meetings was to engage key stakeholders and discuss the challenges faced by the Babbangida community, which has been heavily impacted by the influx of internally displaced persons (IDPs).

In his opening remark, the Executive Director of NEYIF has expressed his gratitude to the Chairman and the critical stakeholders of Tarmuwa LG for their unwavering support in all of its activities in the LGA.

"Additionally, we're optimistic that this pilot project would address key challenges in your community, NEYIF would do everything humanly possible to see that this project has a positive impact in the near future." The ED said.

On the other hand, Mr. Benjamin, however noted that the pilot project aims to provide a comprehensive solution to the community's multifaceted problems by combining humanitarian relief efforts with long-term development and peacebuilding initiatives.

Both the chairman and the emir expressed their unwavering support for the project, emphasizing its timeliness in addressing the urgent needs of the community. They pledged their full cooperation to ensure the successful implementation of the initiative and thanked SCI for their commitment to this course.

Atiku writes National Assembly, seeks six-year term for President

A former Vice President and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, has written to the National Assembly, requesting an amendment to the Constitution to allow for a six-year single term for the President and state governors.

In a memorandum to the Senate Committee on Constitutional Review, Atiku also proposed that the presidency be rotated between the North and South.

It is noteworthy that during Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s presidency, he advocated for a six-year single term for the presidential seat.

Following the 2023 general elections, Atiku has continued to support this tenure proposal.

He stated, “The office of the President shall rotate among the six geopolitical zones of the federation on a single term of six years, flowing between the North and South on the single term of six years respectively.”

Atiku urged the National Assembly to “amend Section 135(2) to read: ‘Subject to the provisions of subsection (1), the President shall vacate his office at the expiration of a period of six years.’”

Additionally, he proposed the “substitution of an aspirant” in Section 285(14)(a) with “a voter.”
