Atiku writes National Assembly, seeks six-year term for President

Atiku writes National Assembly, seeks six-year term for President

A former Vice President and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, has written to the National Assembly, requesting an amendment to the Constitution to allow for a six-year single term for the President and state governors.

In a memorandum to the Senate Committee on Constitutional Review, Atiku also proposed that the presidency be rotated between the North and South.

It is noteworthy that during Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s presidency, he advocated for a six-year single term for the presidential seat.

Following the 2023 general elections, Atiku has continued to support this tenure proposal.

He stated, “The office of the President shall rotate among the six geopolitical zones of the federation on a single term of six years, flowing between the North and South on the single term of six years respectively.”

Atiku urged the National Assembly to “amend Section 135(2) to read: ‘Subject to the provisions of subsection (1), the President shall vacate his office at the expiration of a period of six years.’”

Additionally, he proposed the “substitution of an aspirant” in Section 285(14)(a) with “a voter.”

I felicitate with fellow Nigerians at home and abroad on the occasion of the 64th Independence Anniversary of our dear country, Nigeria.

I felicitate with fellow Nigerians at home and abroad on the occasion of the 64th Independence Anniversary of our dear country, Nigeria.
As Nigeria comes of age, with its people increasingly asserting themselves in every sphere of life across the globe, there is indeed much to be proud of in being a Nigerian. Let us count our blessings and be driven forward by them. But there is still much to be done to fully realise the lofty dreams that inspired our founding fathers in their brave struggle that ended colonialism on our shores 64 years ago. We must never lose sight of our God-given potentials and we must be prepared to do our part in realising Nigeria’s greatness,For this generation of Nigerians, we must not waver or be discouraged by the challenges of nation-building. The current challenges that Nigeria is going through are definitely not insurmountable and should be seen as a necessary process towards the attainment of greatness.

Therefore, our historic mission today is to keep in mind those dreams of our founding fathers, put our hands to the plough of nation-building and hand over to future generations a great foundation to build on.

The thrust of my goodwill message is to admonish my fellow compatriots to continue to have faith that Nigeria will be great and remain the indissoluble entity envisioned by our founding fathers.

With our creativity, resilience, hard work and the eagle spirit, we shall surely ride the storms of these challenges to reach the heights that we desire.

As we celebrate the 64th Independence anniversary of our dear Nation, let us pray for God guidance and blessings. May he heal our land,Unite our people and protect our security forces who are working tirelessly to secure this nation.

Edo Governorship: PDP Defeat, A Calculated Wike, Damagun, Fintiri Ant-iparty Antics - Calculate..

Edo Governorship: PDP Defeat, A Calculated Wike, Damagun, Fintiri Ant-iparty Antics - Calculate

A Political bigwig in Adamawa state, Alhaji Umar Bello Jada, a.k.a calculate, has alleged that Ezenwo Nyesom Wike - Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Governor of Rivers State 2015-2023- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) acting National Chairman Umar Damagum and the Adamawa state governor, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, a.k.a Fresh Air have initiated and executed the crucifixion of PDP in Edo state, to have recorded a disturbing defeat in the 2024 governorship election.
Calculate argued that Wike has full control of the PDP leadership in the country. His only predator in the party however, as the previous presidential party primary elections would justify, is His Excellency the former vice president and PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Waziri Adamawa.

To neutralize the Waziri is to mortgage PDP in 2027 for him to also maintain his appointment as FCT minister. Beyond 2027 when the Atiku would have been out of politics, Wike would then strengthen the PDP machinery to wrestle power from the APC; a calculation, Calculate alleged.

Calculate argued that Fintiri is a political master planner, very cautious  and conscious of his action in tandem with the intention, holding a press conference to announce election results prior to the INEC's, what he and the PDP-Wike-Damagum alleged as true reflection of the Edo election gathered from the PDP situation room; a deliberate deception

Now, Fintiri is considered as a fine hero with the deception shielding the anti party antic against both the Obaseki and the PDP governorship candidate to have succeeded him, Calculate queried.

"The game is between the Wike pro APC-PDP and the genuine anti APC pro Obaseki PDP group that has consistently been lending support to Waziri Adamwa, rather than the APC using coercion by any means security-necessary, to steal a mandate," calculate would conclude.
