PRESIDENT BUHARI COMMITS TO DEEPER PARTNERSHIP WITH SAUDI ARABIA

President Muhammadu Buhari Wednesday held talks with King Salman in Riyadh, on the sidelines of the second day of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference, during which both leaders committed to deeper partnership for the development of both countries.

President Buhari and the Saudi Monarch reviewed aspects of cooperation between both countries and agreed to advance cooperation in the areas of oil and gas, given the similarities of both countries as big producers of the commodity.

In this regard, King Salman assured President Buhari of the willingness of Saudi Arabia to invest in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, thereby strengthening the strategic partnership between the Saudi Energy company, Aramco, and the NNPC.

Both leaders also discussed the current regional and global security situation, and President Buhari expressed his desire for a quick and peaceful resolution on contentious issues in the region.

Noting the cordial relations Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, the two leaders committed to vigorously enhance and develop relations in several areas – from trade, people-to-people partnership, technology, education and agriculture, for the mutual prosperity of citizens of both countries.

The national chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, berated the critics of President Muhammadu Buhari’s constant trips abroad saying that a former President, Olusegun Obasanjo travelled more frequently that Mr Buhari when he was in office.
“Saying Mr President is involved in frequent trips is not correct. I remember very well, there is no president in recent Nigeria’s history, since 1999 till now, that travelled out of Nigeria as much as former President Olusegun Okikiola Aremu Obasanjo did.
“If you check through your newspapers and playback some of your electronic coverages, you will find where Gani Fawehinmi (of blessed memory) took time to calculate the number of days President Obasanjo was out of Nigeria, visiting foreign countries.

READ ALSO: Oshiomhole blames PDP for 2023 presidential posters of himself, Tinubu, El-Rufai

“He even tried to calculate the number of hours he was spending on air comparing it to the number of hours he was spending on Nigerian soil. So, how can you, that was already an adult when Obasanjo was president suggest that Buhari travel more often than other persons? That is not correct,” Mr Oshiomole told the Vanguard.
President Buhari has spent not less than 230 days outside the country since he was elected as the President of Nigeria in 2015.
Over 200 of these days were spent in the United Kingdom (UK) while he spent the other days in Saudi Arabia and other countries.
Also, speaking about the claim by the Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Itse Sagay, that he was behind crisis within APC in his home state, Edo, Mr Oshiomhole said he would rather speak about the matter privately with Mr Sagay.
“All I can tell you is that I have a lot of respect for Prof. Itse Sagay. I do remember very well that he was one of those who said I should contest for President. I respect him, he is a very consistent fellow. He believes in what he believed in and he pays the price for it.
If he has said those things, I am not going to reply to him through the newspapers. I will find out what he said and I will find out, call him and know what the issues are that he is not comfortable with. He is my brother and my elder statesman,” Mr Oshiomhole said.

O. Kah, Provost American University of Nigeria Yola at the Emerging Technologies Research and ICT Innovation Forum in Yola, Adamawa State.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has charged tech startups across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria to be more innovative in churning out solutions that can address local societal challenges.
The Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Umar Danbatta, gave the charge today at the Library Auditorium, American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, Adamawa State, at a two-day Emerging Technologies and ICT Innovation Forum with the Theme: ‘Developing Nigeria’s Tech Eco-System Imperative for Improving Local Content’.

Danbatta, who was represented at the forum by Dr. Chidi Diugwu, Deputy Director, New Media, and Information Security, noted that it has become necessary to promote local content with an emphasis on the Tech Startups ecosystem, stressing that there is a need for identifying unmet societal needs and find a way to address them.
“With the growing pressure of globalization, every government, as well as captains of industry, are charged with the burden of finding ways of fulfilling local demands. Not only that, but given the wide availability of information technology to serve markets globally, it is imperative that the right frameworks are developed to enhance the ability of indigenous companies to maximally explore and exploit local opportunities, as well as remain globally competitive,” the EVC said.
Danbatta also disclosed that the Commission, in its effort to encourage tech entrepreneurship and innovation in the ICT sector, embarked on visitations to various tech startups across the Six geopolitical zones to assess their development and challenges.
“We intend to assist the various tech hubs with the right intervention and support to ease their operations,” he promised.
Meanwhile, the telecom regulator has said the ICT Innovation Forum has become necessary to promote local content with an emphasis on the Tech ecosystem, identifying unmet needs and facilitate Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
The Emerging Technologies Research and Innovation Forum, according to the Commission has been designed to advance the Commission’s agenda of promoting ICT Innovation, tech entrepreneurship, facilitate local content development while leveraging on the power of digital technology to position Nigeria for the 21s century digital revolution.
“The reason why we are here today distinguished ladies and gentlemen, is driven by the urgency to facilitate and support ICT innovators, tech enthusiasts and tech entrepreneurs as a strategy to leapfrogging Nigeria into the digital economy.
The Nigerian Communications Commission as a regulator of this sector appreciates her responsibility to introduce schemes that will promote innovations and facilitate tech entrepreneurship. We believe that this is very critical if we must facilitate the introduction of new value-added services that will improve the consumer quality experience,” added Engr. Ubale Ahmed Maska, Executive Commissioner, Technical Services at the Commission.
Engr. Maska, who was also represented by the Director, Research and Development Department, Mr. Ephraim Nwokoneya, stated that, with ICT continuously having an increasing transformational impact on Nigeria’s socio-economic activities, it will also manifest in the way we live, socialize, learn, trade and even the way we do business.
He argued that ICT will remain the engine of economic growth, driving the future of nations and Nigeria has a lot to gain from its far-reaching applications and adoption, stressing that tomorrow belongs to those who can create and innovate today.
The Commission singled out the Adamawa State government, whom it said finding local solutions to the challenges of the industry is its key policy, as the state has been one of the prominent States at the forefront of technology innovation in Nigeria.
“Adamawa State, being the “Land of Beauty, Sunshine and Hospitality” has a plethora of skilled manpower and central in the technological development in the North East region of Nigeria.”
This, it said inspired the choice of the state, stressing that it is a city with a huge deposit of highly skilled workforce with creative and social intelligence minds that has the potential to become the foremost digital Hub in the North-Fast geo-political zone.

FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN!
BP WILL RISE WO!
His Excellency,
The President,
Federal Republic of Nig.

 Your Excellency,

AN OPEN LETTER ON JADA DAM PROJECT.

We,the concerned and law abiding citizens of Jada local government  area of Adamawa State, write to inform your excellency that, sometimes in the year 2002,the  Federal Govt.awarded a contract for the construction of Jada Dam to STERLING CONSTRUCTION company. The sum of  N906 million was released to the company as mobilization. The incumbent Lamido Adamawa Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu was the chairman of the company and collected the above sum on behalf of the company.Sterling Construction Company is owned by Adamawa State Government. The chairman visited project site twice in company of other state officials. But never mobilized to site.
It is our believe the project was either revoked or transferred by former President Obasanjo immediately after 2003 Elections when his relationship with his  former VP began to strain. And the former Governor Boni Haruna removed Barkindo as chairman and replaced him with Alh.Muhammadu Gambo Jimeta.
In 2012,the Federal Ministry of Water resources under Hon.Serah Ocheppe wrote to him demanding the refund of the aforesaid sum as directed by the House of Reps Committee on water resources in exercise of their oversight function.
Your Excellency, all documents relating to this matter are with the Federal Ministry of Water resources.
The now Emir replied threatening legal action. But he still remain in the best position to answer the question of where is the money and if shared amongst who?
Your Excellency, this letter is informed by conviction of your personal pedigree of honesty, justice and courage in fighting corruption.
The economic importance of this DAM to our people cannot be overemphasized. The least of all is irrigation farming.
The effort of this administration to put Nigeria back on course should not be undermined by any individual or cabal no matter how highly placed.Jada has a fertile arable land and herds of cattle and sufficient human capital to boost Agriculture for export.
As His Excellency would agree,Nigeria is blessed in all ramifications but corruption occasioned by bad leadership has always been the bane.
It is our fervent hope that you will wade into this matter by ordering a thorough and an open investigation with the view of recovering the misappropriated sum and bringing the culprits to book. They are our real enemies that can only be likened to Boko Haram.
We sincerely appreciate the noble effort of Mr President toward laying a solid foundation for the Nation's prosperity for generations yet unborn.
The good people of Jada will continue to be law abiding citizens our beloved nation.
May Allah continue to bless, guide and protect you now and always as you stir the Nigeria's ship to the promised land.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

DRUG FREE AMBASSADORS (DFA)

Establishment of Drug Free Ambassadors (DFA) was a proactive measure to curb drug abuse. This development follows the determination to curb the menace of drug abuse among teenagers/Youths and forestall related juvenile delinquencies.

Several researches and investigations had been conducted and it was discovered that both gender (male/female) Youths and Students take hard drugs.

Drug Free Ambassadors is aimed at promoting youth/Student- oriented programmes that would provide alternative activities to drug involvement. It was being established  to educate Youths/students on the danger inherent in taking drugs not prescribed by doctors and other harmful substances.

The main objective of DFA is to ensure that Youths and Students are well informed so as to avoid and reduce the intake of hard drugs.

DFA goal is to explore and promote economic development potential among Nigerian youths and help them appreciate that it is profitable to live a healthy life without necessarily engaging in indiscriminate use of illicit substances.

NDLEA, Community Leaders and Principals of various  secondary schools had been informed and are committed to partner with Drug Free Ambassadors to eradicate drug peddling among the Youths and students.

Fellow Ambassadors, We must advocate the fight against drug and substance abuse in our dear States and Nigeria because our future generation must be in safe hands.

DFA  are  urging fellow Youths and  students to join the drug free ambassadors and avoid taking illicit drugs that could jeopardise their future.

2023 ELECTION: TINUBU DESERVES OUR SUPPORT-HON.DAHIRU HAMMANDIKKO

By Jada Times News

An All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain in Adamawa State, Hon. Dahiru Hammandikko, has stated that the former Governor of Lagos State Alhaji Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, deserve the Nigerians support most especially the northerners to be the next President of the country.  Hammandikko in an exclusive interview with our correspondent in his resident at Yola.

Reeling out the reasons why Tinubu should be the next president of Nigeria, the APC stalwart said “right now Nigeria did not have a qualify candidate that will take over the leadership of the nation from President Muhammadu Buhari than Tinubu because of his vast experience and knowledge.

He noted that the reason why he was championing the campaign now was because he want every Nigerian to know that nobody in Nigeria knows the economic with their yearnings and aspirations like Jagaba of Nigeria, so it is high time for us to support him come 2023 general elections.

Recalling on what the APC National leader did that warrant the northern support in 2023, Hon. Hammandikko, said “in 2007 Tinubu formed and financed a political party for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to contest for presidential election who happened to be a northerner.” “In 2011, he also formed, financed, stood firm and campaigned vigorously for Mallam Nuhu Ribadu to contest for presidential election a northerner too.”

“In 2015, when history was made in Nigeria’s political landscape and for unity to preserved, Sen. Bola Tinubu equally stood firmly with General Muhammad Buhari (rtd) and ensured that Buhari won first the APC’s primary election and then the general elections where he defeated the incumbent President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.”

“Moreover, in 2019, when all Nigeria political parties merged and formed alliance in order to wrestled power from the ruling APC.  Ahmed Tinubu deployed his best ideas and techniques to ensure that APC did not only won the election but won with wide margin.”

“Again, the current leadership of the National Assembly both the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representative, both emerged as number three and fourth citizens with the help of Jagaban Nigeria,” he added.

According to Hammandikko, Mr. Tinubu has done so many things to the other regions of Nigeria which no politician has ever done that he merited their support. Hence, he boasted that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress deserved to be Nigeria’s next president because of his patriotism, honesty, transparency; justice, foresight, commitment; vision, openness and gentility.

He suggested that let them rally round him come 2023 because of his wealth of experience, knowledge and selfless service to humanity and as well familiarity with every region of the country’s problems.

PRESIDENT BUHARI CELEBRATES ADAMAWA GOV FINTIRI AT 52, URGES HIM NOT TO DISAPPOINT THE YOUTH

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State to set a standard for good governance that might be used to reinforce confidence in the country’s younger political leaders.

The President stated this in a congratulatory message to the governor on his 52nd birthday anniversary celebration.

Delivering the message on his behalf by Sarki Abba, the Senior Special Assistant (Domestic Affairs and Social Events) President Buhari said:

"I am proud to say that you have started off well. You should therefore not rest on your oars until the people feel the impact of good governance. Your performance will be the yardstick by which our youth will be rated in this democracy.

"My administration is fully committed to supporting our youth to succeed because the country looks upon them for future leadership. As one of our youngest leaders, let your performance be an inspiration for others, thereby galvanising our youth to participate actively in making Nigeria a better country."

The President reminded the Adamawa State governor that, "Poverty is one of the enormous challenges facing our democracy, and leaders at all levels should work hard to address this issue because of its direct bearing on criminality in the country."

"While congratulating you on the good work you have started, I urge you not to rest on your oars because complacency is number one enemy of success. You should do everything to address the problem of youth restiveness caused by unemployment which in turn, leads to crime," President Buhari further enjoined Gov. Fintiri.

ADAMAWA VARSITY STUDENTS  CALL FOR MORE  FUNDING RECRUITMENT  OF LECTURERS.

Students of Adamawa State University (ADSU), Mubi, have called for more funding and recruitment of additional lecturers for the state owned institution to recover from its numerous challenges.

Representatives of the university’s Students’ Union Government (SUG) made the call Wednesday in Mubi while briefing newsmen on their maiden meeting with members of the newly appointed Governing Council of the institution.

“It was a fruitful discussion and we told them the challenges facing students; we spoke on the need for more funding of the university by this new administration of Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri who has shown interest in restoring the glory of this institution, which is the first state owned University in North East.

“We spoke on the need to increase the number of lecturers and suggested retaining of best graduating students from all departments as one way to address that,” said Tizhe Geoffrey, the Secretary-General of the SUG.

Also speaking on the meeting between the council and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the branch chairman of ASUU, Mr Abubakar Aliyu, said the Academic staff also presented to the council their problems,  challenges and way forward.

“You know the University has been operating for years without stable councils, so this new council is coming to meet a lot of challenges.

“We want the council to expedite the constitution of management so that we can have a substantive Vice-Chancellor,” Aliyu said.

He also spoke on the need to beef up security in the campus and the town, pointing out that Mubi was one of the areas that suffered adversely from boko-haram insurgency.

The ASUU chairman, however, lauded the stability in the University in spite of the numerous challenges.

Members of the Governing Council, led by the  Chairman,  Hon. Awwal D  Tukur, were at the institution for its inaugural meeting and interactive sessions with stakeholders.
