There goes a famous cliche by Hausas that: "Ruwan da ya dake ka shine Ruwa."
This is exactly what happened to the timely establishment of Gombe State University, my Alma mater. There are numerous Universities in Nigeria,Africa and the World, but Gombe State University, I can proudly say, is the one every Gombite, particularly Tudunwadaite, more particularly the masses, and most particularly myself, will be proud of.
Gombe State University was established in 2005, now fourteen years back, by most active, and diligent Governor ever, Distinguished Senator, Dr. Alhaji Muhammadu Danjuma Goje. Prior to its establishment, students from Gombe struggled to gain admissions, and as such their chances of getting admitted were seriously limited to only the privileged, rendering the "Others" half-literate and vulnerable to be out-of-education Circle.
Prior to the establishment of this prestigious University (GSU), Gombe State was listed as one of the Less-Educationally Developed State by the Federal Ministry of Education index.
However, today, Tudun-wada Ward alone can boast of having getting to one thousand graduate as a result, not to talk of the entire state. This university, apart from Nigeria, foreign countries also benefited from it as they send their people to study in its different faculties.
Also, its establishment paved way to the booming of various businesses ranging from Okada riders, Keke NAPEP riders, computer Business Centres, Traders, food hawkers to unemployed masses. Infact, its establishment has catapulted the Socio-economic activities of the young but Vibrant State.
All the above, cannot be possible without the efforts of the Hero, the achiever, the Patriots, the epitome of a leader, Dr. Alhaji Muhammadu Danjuma Goje (Sarkin yakin Gombe) to whom the entire credit must go to.

Gombe State University Admission Requirements
Minimum of Credit passes in Five (5) subjects including English Language at SSCE, GCE O’Level and any other equivalent examinations.
UTME scores of at least 160 and above (subject to change).
Post-UTME screening score of not less than 160 (subject to change).
In addition to the above, candidates must make Gombe State University 1st or 2nd choice to qualify to write the Post-UTME Screening Test.
Candidates who score less than 160 at the Post-UTME screening test are not eligible for admission into any programme in ESUT irrespective of any higher scores obtained at UTME.
For final selection into programmes, the candidate’s average scores from the UTME and Post-UTME screening Tests are used.
