Ahead of the scheduled local government elections, the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa state have cleared 75 out of 99 aspirants who took the party’s nomination to contest for the 21 local government council’s chairmanship positions across the state.
The screening committee headed by Hon Kwamoti Laori, a serving member of the House of representatives for Numan/Demsa/Lamurde Federal Constituency of the state have cleared 75 aspirants for the party’s tickets.
However, 24 of the aspirants have been disqualified from contesting the party’s primaries at the screening for various reasons considered by the committee.
Reasons stated by the committee for disqualifying 21 aspirants include lack of “genuine certificates, evidence of registration, evidence of resignation from civil service, proof of payments for party dues, proof of resignation from party leadership positions”.
Also, three of the aspirants chose not to appear before the screening committee and hence were disqualified for nonappearance.
